Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a simple procedure that lasts only a few minutes.
During this form of fertility treatment, sperm that have been washed and concentrated have placed in the uterus around the time of ovulation so as to achieve fertilisation.
The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization, resulting in a normal pregnancy.
Depending on the reasons for infertility, IUI can be coordinated with the woman’s menstrual cycle or she may be administered fertility drugs.
